Tulsibai Motoomal Hinduja:

Tulsibai Motoomal Hinduja born and settled in Shikarpur, was widowed at a very young age when her son was 4 years old. Her husband was a trader in central Asia, traveling to Bukhara, Tashkent, and Xinjiangon. The camel caravan, that journeyed for 3 years, returned without him and brought only his trunk back.

She and her son, Kishinchand, lived with her brothers in Shikarpur. Kishinchand studied medicine in Bombay and worked at Haffkine Institute. Tulsibai asked him to return to Shikarpur and serve the town.

In this photograph, Tulsibai is wearing the nath, or traditional nose ring worn by married Sindhi Hindu women, with a large ruby flanked by a pearl on each side.
